At Rise Above Early Learning Center, we believe that children learn best by doing. During this month’s cooking class, our young chefs took part in a delicious project that tied directly into our “I Am…” learning series. This time, the focus was on “I Am a Farmer.”
The children gathered around the table, eager to make alphabet soup from scratch. They practiced real cooking skills by peeling and cutting potatoes and carrots, watching how simple ingredients can become a warm and comforting meal.
One child proudly exclaimed, “I am cooking!” capturing the spirit of confidence and discovery that fills our classrooms every day.
The best part came at lunchtime, when everyone got to enjoy the soup they made themselves. This shared meal was a beautiful reminder of how learning, community, and nourishment come together at Rise Above.
