Meet Ms. Ivy, the Teacher Who Fits Anywhere

Portrait of Ms. Ivy wearing a rust-colored top against a brick wall.

If you ask anyone at Rise Above to describe Ms. Ivy, you will consistently hear the same praise: she seamlessly adapts to wherever she is needed most.

Right now she is in our two year old room, and she is wonderful in there. She has also stepped into other classrooms whenever we have asked. She says yes, she walks in, and within minutes the children gather around her.

Ivy is easygoing. She goes with the flow, and small changes never rattle her. Two year olds live in a world of sudden changes, and that steadiness matters. A child who spills their milk gets a calm voice and a towel. A child having a hard morning gets comfort.

She is hands on all day, down on the floor, sitting at the little table, following a toddler across the room to see what caught their eye.

Her co-teachers count on her. Parents ask for her by name. The children run to her at drop off. Potty training in the two year old room deserves a mention of its own. With patience, cheer, and a celebration for every milestone, Ms. Ivy has helped nearly all of her students learn to use the toilet. For a room full of two year olds, that is a real accomplishment.
