Shamrocks, Rainbows, and the Spirit of Celebration: Why Spirit Week Matters for Young Children

St.-Pattys-Spirit-Week

Every so often, we like to shake things up at Rise Above. Not because our regular days are not meaningful, but because children thrive when they also get moments of pure, playful celebration. Spirit Week is one of those moments.

From March 16-20, our classrooms will be buzzing with St. Patrick’s Day energy. Each day has its own theme, and the children will have chances to dress up, participate in themed activities, and explore the holiday through conversation and play.

Why St. Patrick’s Day? For young children, holiday exploration is much more than a fun excuse to wear green. It is an opportunity to talk about why we celebrate certain days, where traditions come from, and how different people and cultures mark the changing of seasons. Our teachers approach it with that spirit: curious, open, and willing to follow wherever the children’s questions lead.

You might see children exploring the folklore of leprechauns and rainbows. You might see them talking about what luck means, or what it would feel like to find a pot of gold. Our teachers love to use seasonal moments like this to spark conversations that go much deeper than the surface of the holiday.

Spirit Week is also just genuinely fun. There is something special about walking into school on a themed day, seeing your friends dressed up, and feeling like you are all in on something together. That shared experience builds community, and community is at the heart of everything we do at Rise Above.

We are looking forward to a wonderful week. More details about each day’s theme are coming your way soon, so keep an eye on your email and our social pages.

We will see you on the green side.
