Some stories are too good not to share. Years ago, Erica was Makelle’s preschool teacher. Today, they work side by side on our Rise Above teaching team.
Erica has always poured herself into her classroom, and Makelle was one of the children who grew up under her care. She remembers what it was like to guide Makelle through those early years of curiosity and discovery. Now, she gets to see that same little girl show up every day as a teammate and a teacher in her own right.
There is something special about watching a former student return to the place that shaped her, this time as a colleague. It is a reminder of what our Rise Above community is really about: relationships that last far longer than a single school year.
Erica and Makelle’s bond did not end when Makelle graduated out of her classroom. It simply grew into something new. We could not be prouder to have them both on our team.
