There is something about making something for someone you love that changes the whole experience.
Last week, our children baked muffins, and they were not just following a recipe. They were making something for their moms. Every scoop, every stir, every careful pour into the tin had a purpose behind it: tomorrow’s Mother’s Day Tea Party.
Cooking with a purpose is one of the most powerful ways children learn. When children understand the why behind what they are doing, they engage more deeply. They pay closer attention. They care about the outcome in a way that goes beyond the activity itself.
The why was love. And the children rose to meet it beautifully.
When moms stopped in for the Rise Above Mother’s Day Tea Party, the muffins on the table will have been made by their own children, with their own hands, just for them.
We think that might be the sweetest ingredient of all.
