Walk into our Toddler Room on any given morning, and you will see big hugs, fresh provocations, and toddlers moving at their own pace. Some head straight for sensory play. Others choose blocks or art. Our teachers stay close the whole time, offering connection, language, and gentle support as the day begins.
One thing that often surprises families is how much toddlers learn when we give them real autonomy. When a child gets to choose between two cups, two seats, or two ways to paint, that choice builds independence and confidence. These moments may look small from the outside, but they are where some of the deepest learning happens.
Our teachers also approach big feelings differently. We see strong emotions as communication, not misbehavior. A teacher might pause and ask, “What is this child trying to tell me?” That mindset keeps our team calm and curious instead of reactive, and it helps your toddler feel safe, seen, and valued.
The transition into our Toddler Room is built with the same care. Infant teachers prepare both children and parents well before the move, introducing cups, shifting to one nap, and practicing new skills. Families get a “meet the teachers” time, and your child visits the Toddler Room several times, each visit a little longer, before moving over full time. Communication between infant teachers, toddler teachers, and parents continues every step of the way.
During free play, our toddlers explore water, sand, clay, play dough, and loose parts. They test ideas like what happens when they pour, or how far something rolls. Some children stay with one material for a long time. Others move nonstop between areas. Every choice is theirs to make.
A recent moment captured why this program works so well. A toddler who had been hesitant during drop off walked in one morning still holding tightly to a parent. A teacher knelt down, opened her arms, and said, “I’m so happy to see you.” Within minutes, that same toddler was at the sensory table, smiling and exploring beside another child. No pressure. No rush. Just connection and trust.
