Summer at Rise Above means Splash Days, and our children have been making the most of every single Thursday.
Since June every Thursday our outdoor space transforms. Sprinklers, a slip and slide for the older children, wading pools, and water tables all come out, and the children get to spend the morning playing, splashing, and cooling off together.
There is a lot happening in the water. Children are practicing coordination and balance. They are learning to take turns at the water table and the pools. They are discovering what feels different about wet versus dry, fast versus slow, deep versus shallow. And they are laughing, running, and moving their bodies in ways that feel completely joyful.
Families have been sending their children in swimsuits and sunscreen, with water shoes, a towel, and a dry change of clothes for afterward. That little bit of preparation means the children can jump right in, without hesitation.
Splash Days are a favorite for a reason. There is something about water play that is deeply freeing for young children. It invites exploration. It cools everyone off. It brings children together around a shared experience that is genuinely, purely fun.
Splash Days continue every Thursday through the summer. We hope to see everyone there.
