Our teaching team spent a full day together before the school year began. We called it Professional Development Day. The purpose was to start the year as one team, with a shared understanding of what it means to Rise Above.
We looked at the flower in our logo. It stands for growth and nurturing. It also stands for something our teachers choose every morning. Each of them gets to be the sunlight in a child's day.
Part of our training focused on wellbeing in early childhood work. Caring for young children takes patience, energy, and a steady presence. Our team practiced simple ways to stay refreshed so they can bring their best into the classroom. A teacher who feels well can be fully present for your child.
Ms. Daisy joined us as our guest and brought three small gifts. The M\&M's were a reminder to master our mouth, so the words we choose lift each other up. The bubbles reminded us that whatever comes our way can float up and drift away. The mints carried the message our team repeated all day. We are meant to be here.
To support teacher wellness, a massage therapist visited so everyone could rest and recharge. Teachers then worked side by side to get their classrooms ready. The day ended with laughter as we enjoyed dinner together at Houlihans.
