Summer at Rise Above means one thing: Splash Days are back.
Starting Thursday, June 4, our children will head outside every Thursday for water play all summer long. Sprinklers, wading pools, water tables, and for our older kids, the slip and slide. We rotate the setup each week to keep the excitement going, and our kids look forward to it every year.
Here is the thing about water play: it is never just play. When your child runs through a sprinkler, they are developing body awareness and coordination. When they pour and splash at the water table, they are exploring early math and science concepts. When they figure out how to slide without slipping, they are building confidence and risk assessment. The learning does not stop when the swimsuits come out. It deepens.
Our Reggio-inspired approach is built on the idea that children learn best through exploration, curiosity, and real-world experience. Water is one of nature’s most generous teachers. It responds to children in real time. It invites them to experiment, to observe, and to wonder. Every Thursday this summer, that wonder is the plan.
To make sure your child is ready for Splash Days, here is what to send them with each Thursday:
- Swimsuit on under or instead of regular clothes
- Water shoes
- Sunscreen applied before arrival
- A towel
- A dry change of clothes for after water play
We will have different water play setups rotating throughout the summer so the experience stays fresh and exciting from June through August. Sprinklers, wading pools, and water tables will be available across age groups, with the slip and slide added for our older children.
Splash Days begin Thursday, June 4. We cannot wait to see those smiles.
