How Our Children Explored Thankfulness

Throughout November, our children explored thankfulness through steady reflection and simple moments of connection. They shared ideas, created meaningful work, and added their voices to a project that grew across the month.

In the Pre K room, the children built a Thankful Tree and a Thankful Jar. Each day, they added notes about people, experiences, and small moments that mattered to them. As the Tree and Jar filled, they saw how every child had something meaningful to share. These activities supported conversations that helped them notice gratitude in their daily routines.

Our Preschool children partnered with their families to create a class recipe book. Families shared favorite dishes, and the children added drawings and simple steps. This activity invited collaboration between home and school and let the children see their families represented in the classroom.

To bring the month together, the children helped prepare a special lunch using ingredients they could safely explore. They mixed, measured, and worked with steady care as they prepared food to share. Families were invited to join, giving the children a chance to show their work and enjoy time together in a warm setting.

The I Am Thankful Project created meaningful moments throughout the month and gave the children space to express gratitude in natural ways. These experiences reflected our values at Rise Above, where learning grows through connection, creativity, and the voices of the children.
